Position: Violin & Music TheoryMatthew Wylie left his teaching position at Keenan School of Music, Castleknock in June 2023. He has gone on to take up a permanet position with the different Orchsetras throughout Ireland. He will remain part of our Teaching staff in 2023-2024.
is a violinist based in Dublin. He began studying the violin at the age of six with Ida de Burca and Alan Smale in the Royal Irish Academy of Music. In 2011, Matthew joined the Academy to study full time, embarking on their B.A. in Music Performance with Michael D’Arcy. While studying there, he took part in Masterclasses with Daniel Roland, Simon Fischer and Helena Wood. In 2013, he enrolled in the Erasmus programme, travelling to Graz, Austria to study with Maighread McCreann at the Kunst Universtat Graz. In 2015 he graduated from the Royal Irish Academy of Music with an Honours Degree in Music Performance and in 2018 he graduated with Honours from the Masters in Music Performance course at Cork School of Music under the tutelage Gregory Ellis. Matthew is also a keen orchestral player who performs regularly with the R.T.É. Concert Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Wexford Festival Orchestra, SinfoNua, Fishamble Sinfonia & the Hibernian Orchestra to name just a few. His leading experience includes Sinfonua, Orchestra of the National Irish Youth Ballet, R.I.A.M. Chamber Orchestra, R.I.A.M. Symphony Orchestra and Co-Orch Dublin. Matthew's orchestral playing has seen him perform all over the world in places such as The Oriental Arts Centre in Shanghai, Carnegie Hall in New York City, Abu Dhabi, Dubai & Norway.
Matthew has been interested in teaching since beginning his third level studies. Past teaching roles include violin teacher in Dublin School of Music and Portmarnock School of Music. He is currently teaching in Keenan School of Music, Castleknock where he took up the teaching postion in 2015.
